Be part of an environment that respects professionalism and diversity, offers training and development opportunities and embraces flexible careers and work-life balance.

Who We Are

Queensland Pathways State College (QPSC) is a senior transition program for 15 to 17 year olds who face significant barriers in accessing mainstream education. We actively identify, develop and facilitate clear pathways to post-school education, training or employment, while focusing on student-centred learning.

Step Into Your Next Chapter

The role focuses on leading the implementation of the college's pedagogical framework, coordinating peer observation through the Collegial Engagement and Development Framework, and supporting the development of digital pedagogies including QLearn and emerging AI tools to enhance student learning outcomes.

As Head of Department – Teaching and Learning, you will lead the continuous improvement of teaching practice across the college. Based in Townsville, this role works closely with campus leadership teams and teachers across all nine campuses to strengthen pedagogy, build staff capability, and develop a shared language around effective teaching practices.

  • Leading the implementation and ongoing development of the college's whole-school pedagogical framework
  • Coordinating the Collegial Engagement and Development Framework, including structured peer observations that support teachers to reflect on and improve their practice
  • Facilitating professional learning by leading meetings, unpacking evidence-based strategies and supporting staff to embed these practices in the classroom
  • Visiting campuses to support leaders and teachers and ensure alignment of teaching practices across the college
  • Developing resources and tools that support the consistent implementation of agreed teaching strategies
  • Working collaboratively with the Curriculum and VET Head of Department to embed effective teaching practices within moderation, curriculum planning, and resource development
  • Supporting the development of digital pedagogies, including the effective use of QLearn and emerging AI tools to enhance teaching and learning
