About Our School
St Mary’s Cathedral College is growing. The College has experienced unprecedented enrolment growth in response to our transition to a K-12, co-educational, dual campus College.
About You
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced maintenance person to join the St Mary’s Cathedral College team, to undertake general and maintenance work to ensure a clean, orderly and safe environment that enables enhanced student learning outcomes. This is an ongoing position 5-days per week (8:30am - 3:00pm), commencing in Term 1, 2026.
Your responsibilities will include:
- non-specialised repair work
- coordinating daily building and grounds maintenance and cleaning tasks, such as rubbish removal on pathways, in playgrounds and ovals, servicing of gates and doors etc
- carrying out garden maintenance - upkeep of grounds, landscaping and gardens, lawns, gutter cleaning as necessary
- responding to alarms, following emergency procedures, inspecting and securing buildings
- providing assistance to qualified tradespersons in building and furniture maintenance
- ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Work Health and Safety legislation and the College's own WH&S guidelines
- assisting with setting up of special events and functions around the school, e.g. sports and open days
- undertaking any other duties as requested by the Principal, Business Manager, and/or Principal’s Delegate.
It is essential that you:
- have experience as a maintenance person in a school or similar environment and in the use of all grounds maintenance equipment
- have demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
- have demonstrated ability to follow direction, prioritise and meet set deadlines
- have demonstrated interpersonal skills in working with a range of personnel
- provide a safe, secure and caring environment for all students and staff and show a strong personal commitment to the Catholic ethos and Mission of the College.
Experience and Qualifications:
- qualifications in relevant trade desirable but not essential, but has a skill level which assumes and requires knowledge, training or experience relevant to the duties to be performed
- previous experience in a school environment is desired but not essential.
