About the Role

The IT Service Desk Officer is responsible for providing first and second-level technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users within the organisation. This role ensures the smooth operation of IT services by addressing and resolving technical issues promptly and efficiently. The IT Service Desk Officer plays a critical role in maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction and operational efficiency by delivering exceptional service and support. This role is also responsible for administering the centralised school telephony solution and various enterprise education applications, and act as an escalation point for School IT Officers.

The ideal candidate will be a professional and lead IT Support person experienced with dealing with support queries, escalations and administration of various SaaS services.

The Service Desk Officer is required to perform tasks that include but are not limited to:

• triaging, troubleshooting and escalating jobs to resolve end-user computing, data network, audio/visual, and IT systems issues in accordance with Service Level Agreements
• configuring and maintaining centrally managed services, such as VoIP, Education Apps, Video Conference and Web Content Filtering solutions
• acting as a point of escalation for School IT Officers by being the subject-matter expert for centrally managed IT services
• scoping and identifying business requirements
• supporting the deployment of various IT projects
• participating and contributing to the Sydney Catholic Schools Information Technology Infrastructure Library, Continual Service Improvement model
• collaborating with IT teams and third-party vendors to resolve complex issues and developing new solutions
• monitoring and maintaining systems and upgrades as necessary
• providing clear, practical and professional best practice level advice and support to SCS Networks, schools, central office and the leadership team
• obtaining quotations on hardware, assets and software as required through Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) Sydney approved suppliers
• being contactable and available out of work hours to respond to urgent matters (in most cases, any work required can be performed from home/remotely).

About You

To be successful in this position, you must possess:

• proven success working in a customer service environment with a focus on building relationships with internal customers
• proven experience working with multiple teams, key stakeholders, and third-party vendors to produce technical solutions that meet business requirements
• proven experience problem-solving complex IT issues in a fast paced environment
• extensive exposure and deep working knowledge of end user device operating systems
• strong knowledge of Windows Server and proficiency across all aspects of the Open Systems Interconnection Model
• experience in Major Incident Management and Problem Management
• demonstrated experience in being responsible for Change Management in an ITIL environment
• post secondary qualification and experience in one or more of the following: Microsoft, Cisco or Aruba, CompTIA, Scripting and Automation with Powershell, Javascript and Python for Infrastructure and Cloud platforms
• an understanding of ITIL v3/4 Foundation framework
• knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Network Administration, Logging, Connectivity / Network Security / Auditing / Scoping / Asset Management / Document Writing / High-level technical reporting / Virtual LAN set-up and management / Wireless Networking / Hardware troubleshooting
• a current driver’s licence and access to a car
• willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools.
