About the Role
Reporting to the Manager: VET and RTO, we are seeking an Education Officer: Vocational Education and Training who will drive student pathway development and strengthen capability across our education community.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- collaborating with schools and industry partners to design and deliver integrated vocational learning pathways that respond to skills shortages and support students’ successful transition from school to employment
- contributing to the development, review and continuous improvement of training and assessment strategies and resources, ensuring schools can deliver high-quality, compliant VET programs aligned with the VET Quality Framework and regulatory standards
- building and maintaining strong partnerships with industry and VET providers to ensure up-to-date knowledge of Training Package requirements and emerging workforce needs
- planning, initiating and overseeing the delivery of training and assessment from endorsed Training Packages within the Scope of Registration, ensuring full compliance with NVR Standards and the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF)
- providing expert advice on safe equipment use and safe work practices across training and workplace settings
- engaging with schools, VET institutions, industry stakeholders and the broader community to promote student pathways, employment opportunities, apprenticeships and traineeships
- maintaining accurate VET documentation and records in line with regulatory, audit and reporting requirements
- supporting schools in implementing school-based apprenticeships and traineeships
- monitoring and ensuring compliance with all relevant apprenticeship and traineeship legislation and regulations
- undertaking additional duties as required.
About You
Our ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in a similar position and possesses the following skills, qualifications and experience:
- a NESA recognised tertiary qualification in education or teaching
- professional practice at a level equivalent to Highly Accomplished or Lead under the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
- a minimum five years teaching experience in a school setting
- proven experience as a VET Teacher or VET Coordinator in a secondary school
- demonstrated capability in leading staff through effective professional learning
- a strong track record of improving student outcomes and driving successful whole-school initiatives
- proficiency in analysing data to inform educational planning and decision-making
- the ability to clearly articulate contemporary educational trends in both local and international contexts
- proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
- eligibility under ASQA’s Fit and Proper Person requirements
- a current driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
- a willingness to respect, support and uphold the mission, ethos and teachings of the Catholic Church and the values of Sydney Catholic Schools.
Desirable
- postgraduate degree in Education or another discipline
- 5 years of middle leadership experience in a school
- knowledge of Catholic Systemic Schools/Systems
- a practising Catholic with demonstrated evidence of ongoing commitment to the teachings of the Catholic Church and engagement in the life of a Catholic faith community such as a parish or an established community within the Catholic Church, as an expression of their relationship with Jesus Christ.
