Education Assistant - Special Needs
We are seeking to establish a pool of Special Needs Education Assistants for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2026 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period.

The Role
As a Special Needs Education Assistant, the suitable applicants would assist in the delivery of planned education programs that will help in the development of young minds. Experience with programs such as Spelling Mastery, CARS and STARS and MultiLit would be beneficial. In this role you should collaborate and work in a team environment. Flexibility, adapting to change and a positive work ethic is important to this role. The suitable applicants will ideally possess good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group programs, as well as the ability to support the general health and well-being of students. You will ideally be organised and be able to use your initiative to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment.
The suitable applicants would work under teacher direction in a diverse role across the school, supporting students from Kindergarten to Year 6. As an Education Assistant you would also provide support to ensure the learning environment is inclusive and relevant with the health and safety of students being a high priority. The suitable applicants should have the ability to manage student behaviour in accordance with school policies and programs.

- Demonstrated good written and oral communication skills, including the ability to interact with students with special needs, parents and teaching professionals on the provision of educational programs, and to assist teachers in understanding students where necessary.
- Demonstrated good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team in the evaluation of educational programs, including special education and therapy programs where these have been implemented.
- Demonstrated good organisational skills that will assist in the delivery and development of effective education programs to students and subsequent feedback to teaching professionals or psychologists.
- Demonstrated ability to assist teachers or therapists in implementing educational programs, including special education and, should this be a requirement of the position, occupational and/or physiotherapy programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents.
- Demonstrated ability to assist with general health and well-being of students.
