This full-time position involves working closely with a child in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child's learning, development and well-being throughout the school day, both in the classroom and during unstructured times.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored one-to-one support for an SEND pupil with ASD, promoting their engagement, independence and social development.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of differentiated learning activities in line with the EYFS framework.
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement and review the pupil's individual support plan.
- Encourage positive behaviour and communication through consistent routines and use of supportive strategies.
- Support the child during transitions and maintain a safe, nurturing learning environment.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience working with young children, ideally within an EYFS or SEND setting.
- Knowledge of strategies and approaches for supporting children with ASD.
- A caring, patient and proactive attitude.
- Excellent communication and teamworking skills.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) are desirable but not essential.
