Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons across the primary curriculum to meet individual learning needs
- Support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD, speech, language and communication needs (SLCN), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Develop, implement, and review Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets and personalised learning plans
- Create a safe, structured, and stimulating classroom environment that promotes positive learning experiences
- Assess, monitor, and report on pupil progress, adapting teaching strategies to maximise achievement
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, the SENCO, therapists, parents, and external professionals to support pupil development
- Foster pupils' confidence, independence, communication, and social skills through positive relationships and consistent behaviour support strategies
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (essential)
- Previous experience teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs, ideally within a primary setting
- Strong understanding of a range of additional needs, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and speech, language and communication difficulties
- Ability to adapt the primary curriculum to meet the needs of individual learners
- Excellent classroom management with a patient, flexible, and nurturing approach
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
