The Teacher Growth Team aims to ensure that teachers are supported to deepen their curriculum knowledge and embed research-based pedagogical and assessment practices that improve student learning outcomes. This will involve identifying teacher professional learning needs and providing in-class support, ensuring that teachers gain expertise and knowledge in differentiating instruction and supporting faculties to develop self-improving qualities.
These positions coordinate and contribute to the co-design practices, including professional learning, high quality resources and support materials, in response to system and school needs, which deliver high impact strategies at scale to enhance learning for all students.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
Specific Selection Criteria
In addition to the general selection criteria;
- Capacity to design and deliver professional learning in a range of school contexts that is high quality, linked to professional standards, and builds the pedagogical and leadership capacity of teachers through mentoring and coaching.
- Deep knowledge and understanding of curriculum, professional practice, policies and initiatives in education at state and national levels.
- Knowledge of current education research and literature, combined with a capacity to apply such knowledge and support a diverse range of teachers to implement evidence-based practices.
- Analytical and planning skills, combined with collaborative and creative problem solving, to provide advice based on rich contextual data and develop strategic solutions that enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.

Essential Requirements
- A resume clearly detailing your capabilities, knowledge and experience (maximum two pages) in either Word or PDF format. Your resume is to include names and contact details of two referees who are familiar with and are able to discuss your abilities and suitability for this position. One of your referees must be your current Director Educational Leadership or Principal.
- Answers addressing the specific and general selection criteria (your responses to be between 250 and 500 words for each criteria) in either Word or PDF format.
- An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
- Your employment may be subject to the Department's National Criminal Records Check to determine your suitability for employment.

The conditions of employment for a Trainer, Teacher Growth Team, are school based conditions of employment as provided for under the Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020, the Teachers Handbook and other relevant policies and procedures of the department.
Substantive permanent teachers who accept a full time temporary appointment as a Trainer, Teacher Growth Team, will retain right of return to their substantive school and position level at the end of the temporary appointment if they will not have been out of their substantive school based appointment for more than three years by the end of this appointment.
The duration of the temporary appointment is three years, subject to satisfactory performance. The temporary appointment may be terminated early if the purpose for the employment is no longer necessary, funding for the position is no longer available or the performance is unsatisfactory.
