This Coach role will have a strong focus on Dance, and will provide pedagogical leadership, coaching, and program coordination across the school's Dance & Arts Excellence programs at MacGregor State High School.
Applicants with demonstrated experience in Dance education, coaching, curriculum development, and extra-curricular program leadership are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Pedagogical Leadership and Teacher Capability Development
- Lead and model high-quality teaching and learning practices across the Dance & Signature Arts Programs, supporting improved educational outcomes for students
- Provide coaching, mentoring and professional guidance to teachers delivering Dance, Drama, Art, and Media Excellence Programs, building capability and fostering evidence-based practice
- Support the Head of Department and classroom teachers by identifying effective resources, strategies and assessment practices for curriculum and extra-curricular Dance
- Lead the implementation, monitoring and review of pedagogical approaches in Dance and related Arts programs
Program Leadership and Strategic Development
- Work collaboratively with the Head of Department - Arts and leadership team to align Signature Arts Program initiatives with school targets and departmental priorities
- Contribute to the strategic development of Arts programs, including curriculum planning, program quality assurance, and student pathways
- Lead and support key Arts-related projects that drive improvement in student engagement, wellbeing, and achievement
Professional Development and Learning Culture
- Facilitate/deliver professional development to teaching staff in the Arts, focusing on Dance pedagogy, performance practice, and assessment
- Build leadership capacity within staff by modelling effective instruction, promote reflective practice, and foster collaborative learning communities
- Engage in ongoing professional learning and maintain industry and pedagogical currency in Dance & Arts education
Program Coordination and Community Partnerships
- Lead the coordination and support the organisation and supervision of Signature Arts Program events; performance evenings, showcases, Dance competitions, eisteddfods, graduations, and award ceremonies
- Liaise with external industry partners, guest artists, and community organisations to enhance learning outcomes and program quality
Data-Informed Practice and Program Evaluation
- Support staff in analysing student achievement data to inform program delivery, assessment practices, and improvement strategies
- Evaluate the impact of strategies and program initiatives, providing recommendations to enhance student outcomes
Contribution to Whole-School Priorities
- Support school events/initiatives by coordinating and facilitating Arts-based contributions and performances
- Participate in relevant school networks and committees as negotiated with the line manager: Head of Department - Arts

- A relevant teaching qualification
- Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in QLD
- In addition to registration, teachers working in Education and Care Services (including State Delivered Kindergarten programs) require an exemption card issued by Blue Card Services
