Role Description/Criteria

A pervading sense of inclusion and belonging… parents, staff and students expressed pride and privilege in belonging to the St Martin de Porres community. — School Review 2024

St Martin de Porres is a vibrant, multicultural Catholic primary school in Melbourne’s west, known for its strong community spirit, high expectations and commitment to every child’s growth. Our spacious grounds and flexible learning spaces create an inspiring environment where students and staff feel supported, valued and ready to thrive.

We nurture 260 students across 12 classes, celebrating their diversity, curiosity and unique strengths. Teachers work in collaborative teams, fostering innovation, shared practice and a deep love of learning.

We are seeking a passionate and committed Year 1 classroom teacher to join our community in a maternity leave replacement position beginning in Term 2, 2026. This is a 12-month contract with the possibility of ongoing employment. A thorough handover will be provided by the current classroom teacher to ensure a smooth transition.

At St Martin de Porres, you will be supported in your professional growth and play a meaningful role in helping students flourish academically, socially, emotionally and spiritually. Guided by our motto, Love and Service to All, we ensure every child feels known, valued and ready to thrive.

We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and graduates who are ready to make a difference.
