About the School

St John the Baptist Catholic School, Woy Woy was started in 1922 by the Sisters of St Joseph. The school moved to its present site in 1979 and has a current enrolment of 551 students. The school’s vision is to be “a place of dignity and high expectations, where the presence of God prevails”. The school aims to develop the whole child where all students reach their full potential - spiritually, academically, socially, emotionally and physically in a positive, secure and safe environment

Specific Criteria

We invite applications from practising Catholics who actively contribute to the life and community of a Parish.

  • Middle leadership experience demonstrated by Lead Teacher practice or equivalence as described in the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers
  • Effective leadership, development, implementation and/or evaluative experience of RE curriculum, assessment and reporting
  • Successfully led an effective school improvement initiative that improved the learning experience and outcomes for all students
  • Effectively made use of data and evidence to inform and drive improvement
  • Demonstrated experience leading and/or responding to transformation and change
  • Demonstrated experience in order to create a cohesive team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and influence people to positively contribute to achieving outcomes
  • The ability to create an environment for people to work productively and purposefully
  • A track record of managing self to meet deadlines, deliver high quality work with emotional self-awareness and awareness of others
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • The ability to engage with and evaluate relevant research, best practices and data to inform future practices
  • A keen eye for detail to deliver consistently accurate and informed written and verbal communications suitable for the receiving audience
  • NESA approved undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications in Teaching or Education
  • Post-graduate qualifications (or working towards) in a related subject area (e.g. Leadership, Theology/RE, Educational Leadership) from an approved tertiary institution
  • Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in a CSBB school (i.e. Level E)
  • Accreditation at (or working towards) Lead Teacher (desirable though not essential)
  • Valid Working with Children Check
