Position Information
Kingswood Park Public School, located in Western Sydney, serves 165 students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and includes 2 (soon to be 3) multi-categorical support classes. The Preschool runs 2.5 days a week, supporting two groups of 20 students, and is rated as exceeding National Quality Standards. The school community is diverse, with 50% of students identifying as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and 15% from English as an Additional Language backgrounds.
With a blend of experienced and early career teachers, the school values strong partnerships with staff, families, and community groups, including the AECG, Nepean Community and Neighbourhood Services, Uniting, LifeStart, and The Smith Family. There is a strong focus on explicit, differentiated teaching, particularly in literacy and numeracy, supported by targeted professional learning.
Kingswood Park embeds Aboriginal perspectives across all learning areas and promotes active student participation and leadership. Using data-driven practices and a culture of high expectations, the school continually monitors performance to meet strategic targets and supports diverse student needs, including high potential and gifted learners.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Specific Selection Criteria
- Demonstrated experience working with students across various disability categories within multi categorical support classes.
- Proven ability to lead and support inclusive educational practices that cater to diverse learning needs while collaborating with staff, families, and external agencies.
- Experience in designing and implementing behaviour management plans and positive behaviour support strategies tailored to individual student needs.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
