Kindergarten to Year 6 serving the Port Kembla Parish with an enrolment of approximately 170 pupils.

Location: St Patrick's Catholic Parish Primary School, Port Kembla

The Executive Director of Schools, Diocese of Wollongong, invites applications from suitably experienced leaders for the Assistant Principal position at St Patrick's Catholic Parish Primary School, Port Kembla commencing at the beginning of the 2027 school year.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL

St Patrick’s, Port Kembla aims to nurture each child’s faith experience while recognising and catering for their individual needs and challenging them to grow, adapt and positively engage in their learning. The school strives to give children a sound understanding of the Gospel values of love, care, respect and justice.

Students are encouraged to perpetuate the Josephite and Franciscan charisms of the school’s founding religious orders. Central to this is the Franciscan call to environmental stewardship of the planet and the MacKillop commitment to meeting the needs of the disadvantaged.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

To achieve success in the role, the successful candidate will be someone who can:

  • Give witness to the faith and contribute to the Catholic life and culture of the school community.
  • Build a learning culture of shared responsibility for quality teaching and student learning growth, informed by data.
  • Build capacity through their own professional development and supporting staff by providing access to effective continual professional learning opportunities, giving regular feedback and managing performance.
  • Act strategically to drive school improvement initiatives aligned to the school’s vision and strategic plan.
  • Ensure that school processes meet system, NESA and legislative requirements.
  • Develop and maintain positive partnerships with students, families and carers, the local church and the wider school community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current accreditation to teach with NESA.
  • Post-graduate study in a relevant discipline (or working towards).
  • Accreditation for Senior Leadership in a Catholic School (Category E) in accordance with the ‘Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong’ policy (or a commitment to acquiring within a 5 year period).

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE

This role is classified as child related work and therefore we require a working with children clearance to be completed prior to your commencement with us.
