About the Role

Canberra Grammar School is seeking an experienced and inspiring Assistant Director of Wellbeing Education to help shape the wellbeing, character and personal development of our Senior School students.

This influential leadership role oversees the delivery of the Senior School’s wellbeing education programme, ensuring that wellbeing is intentionally taught, thoughtfully sequenced and consistently experienced by every student.

Working closely with the Director of Wellbeing Education, you will also help lead the School’s response to complex and high-risk student matters, bringing sound judgement, coordinated care and a strong commitment to safeguarding and procedural integrity.

The role brings the School’s Anglican values and commitment to formation to life through the Personal Development Programme, student agency, active citizenship and visible, responsive care. It offers a meaningful opportunity to influence both proactive wellbeing education and the complex end of student support.

About You

You are an experienced and relational educator who believes wellbeing should be deliberately taught, authentically modelled and embedded throughout school life.

You bring compassion, courage and sound professional judgement to your work. You are equally comfortable designing engaging programmes, supporting colleagues, building relationships with families and navigating sensitive or complex student matters.

You will demonstrate:

• The ability to coordinate a formation or character education programme, ideally aligned with a graduate profile or similar framework
• An understanding of how to embed an inclusive faith or values framework within contemporary wellbeing education
• Experience delivering or coordinating Personal Development or wellbeing curricula, including health and wellbeing, respectful relationships and consent
• The confidence to teach frank, evidence-informed content in age-appropriate and developmentally sequenced ways
• An understanding of metacognition, self-knowledge and pathways education, including the use of portfolios as meaningful records of growth
• Experience contributing to complex case management, safeguarding and multidisciplinary coordination in a school or comparable environment
• The ability to embed Social and Emotional Learning capabilities across curriculum and wellbeing programmes
• Sound judgement in sensitive and high-risk matters, together with a strong commitment to child-safe practice and procedural compliance
• An understanding of restorative practice and tiered models of pastoral support
• Experience coordinating service learning, active citizenship or values-based programmes
• The capacity to bring a code of conduct and its values to life through clear and consistent expectations
• Strong organisational skills, including coordinating delivery, managing workflows and following through on agreed actions
• Highly developed communication skills and the ability to navigate challenging conversations constructively
• The ability to evaluate programme impact against defined standards and contribute to continuous improvement
• A proactive, flexible and collaborative leadership style, with the ability to balance competing priorities in a dynamic school environment.

• Appropriate qualifications
• A valid ACT Working with Vulnerable People Card
• A current National Police Check; and
