About the Diploma

The Diploma of Islamic Leadership (ILEAD) intends to provide graduates with the skills and knowledge required to perform in the role of an Imam, religious instructor, and/or Muslim chaplain, to serve the Australian Muslim Community in metropolitan and regional areas of varying sizes. At course completion, graduates should acquire the skills and knowledge to:

  • guide congregations in religious matters
  • lead religious observances.
  • reconcile religious beliefs and practices within modern Australian society.
  • run community development programs.
  • teach Islamic text and sources.
  • provide pastoral care services.

Job Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join our team as the Diploma of Islamic Leadership Trainer and Assessor. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering the curriculum, ensuring the effective implementation, assessment, and the units of this course.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the understanding and interpretation of the Diploma units and deliver the units according to the Training and Assessment Strategy (TAS).
  • Ensure that all students are provided with expected learning outcomes, assessment tasks and methods.
  • Deliver class sessions in accordance with each unit outline, setting clear learning goals and providing a range of learning activities, tasks and resources.
  • Facilitate student understanding of assessment tasks, submission deadlines, and marking rubrics.
  • Monitor and record student attendance and progress and report any concerns.
  • Provide timely feedback to students on their progress and facilitate their development as responsible independent learners.
  • Stay updated with educational trends and developments in Islamic Shariah, teachings and knowledge to continuously improve curriculum offerings.
  • Participate in assessment validation to ensure improvement in curriculum delivery and rigour of assessments.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative learning environment of students and staff alike.

Requirements:

  • A valid working with children’s check or VIT registration
  • National Police Check
  • Trainers and assessors who hold one of the following:
    • TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment
    • TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment; or
    • TAE50216 Diploma in Vocational education and Training (*training can be provided to attain one of these qualifications*)
  • Current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided i.e., Trainers and assessors must be of the Muslim faith and a current Imam, religious instructor or Muslim chaplain, and be able to demonstrate competency in the Arabic language and hold a qualification such as a:
    • Degree (Domestic or International) obtained in Islamic studies or
    • An Australian Degree that includes Arabic and Islamic studies
  • Note: Trainers and Assessors who hold international qualifications are required to provide an Official Australian Accreditation Recognition letter from the Overseas Curriculum Recognition Unit to validate authenticity of their international qualifications.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement high quality innovative teaching and learning programs in a variety of learning needs.
  • Demonstrated willingness to be a role model for teaching/assessing/building positive relationships with students
  • Demonstrated ability to identify own learning needs and obtain support for professional development
