Position Descriptor: Errington Special Education Centre caters for students with an intellectual disability and associated complex needs R-12. Seventy percent of our students live with Autism and sixty percent live with communication complex needs and many with behavioural / sensory complex needs. The student community is multicultural and diverse. All students have a One Plan. . The school is embarking on developing an `Errington Identity? based on the evidence based practices of Mulit-Tiered Systems of Support Framework. This will form the basis of a whole school pedagogical agreement. All our practices are evidence based and we strive for best quality teaching and learning. Teachers applying for this position must have experience in teaching students of the above description adhere to our established school policies, curriculum and pedagogical agreements. Be familiar with a balanced literacy programme. Be prepared to teach music across the school as well as be a classroom based teacher. Preferably be able to play a musical instrument. The school has a culture of consultation and collaboration with DECD and non DECD service providers and other agency personnel to support student wellbeing, access to the curriculum and support for parent/caregivers. Teachers are required to work collaboratively and manage service providers, their families and School Support Officers (SSOs) to achieve optimal outcomes for students.
