Veritas Education have an amazing opportunity at an OFSTED 'outstanding' school that are looking to hire a teaching assistant for a KS2 classroom for an immediate start to work with a SEN student in a 1:1 capacity until the end of the academic year. This could be the ideal role for a graduate seeking teaching experience before teacher training or an experienced teaching assistant looking to further their career in a growing and thriving organisation.

The school are a 2 form entry with supportive staff across the year group that are happy to assist new teaching assistants to settle into their new setting. Furthermore, its closely located to a tube station and offers parking for all long term staff.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF A TEACHING ASSISTANT

Teaching Assistant support for Pupils

• Support pupils to make good academic progress, under the direction of the teacher and Inclusion leader
• Set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence
• Implement group or 1:1 interventions to support pupils who have emotional or social barriers to learning
• Establish constructive relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations
• Promote the inclusion and acceptance of all pupils
• Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher

Teaching Assistant Support for Teachers

• Create and maintain a purposeful, orderly and supportive environment, in accordance with lesson plans and assist with the display of pupils' work
• Use strategies, under the direction of the teacher, to support pupils to achieve learning goals
• Discuss with the teacher how learning activities are to be organised and what their own support role will be
• Monitor pupils' responses to learning activities and accurately record and feedback to the teacher as directed

QUALIFICATIONS FOR TEACHING ASSISTANT

Desirable for a teaching assistant

• An honours degree (preferably Upper Second) or equivalent
