Teaching Assistant

Location: Redbridge, East London Position: Teaching Assistant Contract: Full-Time Start Date: ASAP Pay: £1,900 - £2,200 per month

Veritas Education are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Redbridge who are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join them at the start of the new academic year. This role will involve supporting a Reception pupil on a 1:1 basis, alongside providing general classroom support where required.

The successful Teaching Assistant will support a pupil with additional needs, helping to promote academic progress, confidence, and positive engagement with learning. Previous experience supporting children with SEN is desirable, although the school would also consider graduates or candidates with a strong interest in education, psychology, or child development.

The school is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment where every child is encouraged to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and wider staff team to ensure effective support both inside and outside the classroom.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Support for Pupils:

• Provide 1:1 and small group support under the direction of the class teacher
• Assist pupils with additional learning, emotional, or social needs
• Encourage independence, confidence, and positive behaviour
• Promote inclusion and equal access to learning opportunities

Support for Teachers:

• Help maintain a structured and supportive classroom environment
• Assist with lesson preparation and classroom organisation
• Support learning activities in line with lesson plans

Requirements

Essential:

• GCSE Grade C/Level 4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths
• Strong communication and organisational skills

Desirable:

• Experience working in a primary school setting
• Experience supporting children with additional needs
• A degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field
