About this job

KS1 Learning Support Assistant

Location: Kings Langley Salary: £2,200-£2,350 per monthContract Type: Long-Term, Full-Time, ContractHours: 8:30am - 4:00pmStart Date: ASAP

A nurturing and inclusive infant school in Kings Langley is seeking a committed Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a lively, energetic Year 2 pupil with autism and ADHD. This child thrives with structure, movement, and positive reinforcement, and the school is looking for someone with a warm, upbeat attitude who can match his energy while helping him succeed.

This is a varied, rewarding role involving a hybrid learning model: supporting the child in the classroom and also working with him in the school's dedicated intervention room, a sensory-based provision for a small group of six children. Activities include sensory exploration, Forest School sessions, interactive reading, and structured small‑group learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with autism and ADHD.
  • Support learning both in the classroom and outside, following a structured hybrid timetable.
  • Encourage engagement through movement, sensory activities, and hands‑on learning.
  • Promote positive behaviour using clear routines, praise, and consistent expectations.
  • Assist with small‑group sessions including sensory play, Forest School, and interactive reading.
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other members of staff to ensure continuity and progress.
  • Help the child develop independence, emotional regulation, and confidence.
  • Record observations and contribute to progress reviews in line with the child's support plan.

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting children with autism, ADHD, or other SEN. This is not essential, we are mainly looking for someone with a proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • A positive, patient, and proactive attitude , someone who sees potential, not problems.
  • Willingness to learn, train, and adapt to the child's needs and the school's approaches.
  • Confidence supporting sensory needs, movement breaks, and structured routines.
  • Ability to build trusting, encouraging relationships with children.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Application Details

If you're enthusiastic, resilient, and ready to support a child who learns best through movement, sensory exploration, and positive relationships, we'd love to hear from you.

Apply now with your CV and we will be in touch to arrange a trial session.
