Teaching Assistant - Key Stage 1 (Level 3 Qualified)

Location: Bacup, Lancashire

Start Date: January 2026

Contract Type: Full-time, Term Time Only

We are working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive Primary School in Bacup who are seeking a Level 3 qualified Teaching Assistant to join their team. This is a full-time role supporting pupils across Key Stage 1, including Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.

The successful candidate will work closely with teaching staff to support learning, promote wellbeing, and help create a safe and inclusive environment where every child can thrive.

About the Role:

• Support pupils in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, both in class and through small group interventions
• Assist with phonics, early literacy and numeracy development
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
• Work collaboratively with teachers to adapt learning to meet individual needs
• Uphold safeguarding procedures and contribute to a nurturing school culture

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Hold a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent)
• Have experience working in a primary school setting, ideally within KS1
• Be confident supporting children with a range of needs, including SEND
• Demonstrate a caring, patient and proactive approach
• Work in line with the DfE Teaching Assistant Professional Standards, including:
• Promoting the school's ethos and values
• Supporting pupil learning and development
• Collaborating effectively with colleagues and professionals
• Maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
• Engaging in reflective practice and professional growth
