Southern River College (SRC) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher ideally committed to achieving outstanding educational outcomes for our students at educational risk in our culturally diverse school.

The Role

The successful applicant will ideally deliver highly engaging and contextually relevant teaching programs designed to support our students at academic risk within our Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC).

The TLC program provides students with extensive wraparound support for their wellbeing and academic achievement. The program consists of students with academic gaps who require strategic planning to support their academic learning and possibly their emotional self-regulation. The aim of the program is to create a clear pathway for students into further training or employment through functional literacy and numeracy skill development, using and reviewing data to build a profile in developing curriculum appropriate to learning needs, whilst supporting their social and emotional needs.

The successful applicant should provide high quality and relevant learning experiences for a small cohort of twenty (20), with the program catering for students in Years 7 to 9. The ability to teach Science and/or Mathematics is highly desirable. You would develop and implement interventions through individual programs that meet the academic, vocational and wellbeing needs of each student. The successful applicant will ideally have experience in developing and implementing data-driven plans and utilising explicit teaching strategies/practices.

In the TLC program, our staff work collaboratively across a range of classes and contexts to ensure there are positive outcomes for students engaged in the program. Staff combine their expertise and support one another to develop programs and implement interventions to support students to achieve. The ability to also teach in other learning areas outside of TLC will also be considered desirable.
