About this job

Position Information

Auburn West Public School provides inclusive K-6 education for a diverse community located on the western edge of the suburb, adjacent to Auburn Botanical Gardens. Current enrolment stands at 540 with 25 classes, including 98% of students from a non-English speaking background.  In 2024, the school established "Warada", a support unit of three classes that caters for 21 students in AU and IO/AU classrooms. The school is committed to providing an inclusive, safe, and high-quality teaching and learning environment to ensure all students are supported to achieve success. In addition to English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EAL/D) teachers, community language programs in Arabic and Turkish support students in their learning. The school receives additional funding to implement innovative programs that aim to ensure equity, social and resourcing goals are addressed. Students, staff, parents and the wider community work together to promote excellence, where 'effort is the key'.

Specific Selection Criteria

  3. Effective use of classroom strategies that enhance student engagement, support the development of social and communication skills, and cater to sensory needs.
  4. Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with the capacity to establish and maintain effective, proactive partnerships with students, parents, staff, external agencies and the wider community.
