Position Information

Blacktown Boys High School is a partially selective all-boys high school with an enrolment of 918 students including 22.8% students from a non-English speaking background and 1.8% Aboriginal students. The student body includes an academically selective cohort in each year group, gifted and talented classes, mainstream classes and an Inclusive Education Unit. The school caters for the educational and wellbeing needs of boys, attracting students from a wide drawing area, who are seeking a single-sex education. It has a strong focus on achieving academic and creative excellence, and developing resilient, self-confident young men who can collaborate and communicate effectively, as they develop skills to be lifelong learners. It has a focus on HSC attainment, Literacy and Numeracy, student wellbeing and collaborative teaching. The wide community has recognised the school's success, and this is reflected in increasing enrolments. It is a school where boys thrive.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Chemistry (Year 11-12) and Science (Years 7-10).

• Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills, with the capacity to work collaboratively and foster positive relationships with students, staff, and parent.
• Demonstrated capacity to implement effective classroom management strategies and deliver engaging, high-impact lessons that support and promote high expectations for all students, including HPGE learners, EAL/D students, and those requiring learning support.
• Demonstrated ability to design, plan, and implement curriculum, including differentiated teaching and learning programs, assessment, and resource development, aimed at driving improved student learning outcomes.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
