The School
Parkwood Primary School (PS) is a vibrant and inclusive learning community located at the eastern end of the Fremantle Peel Education District. Established in 1975, the school shares a boundary with Lynwood Senior High School, creating strong opportunities for community and cross school collaboration.
We currently cater to approximately 620 students from kindergarten to Year 6, including around 100 students enrolled in our Intensive English Centre. The Role
Parkwood PS is seeking a Performing Arts teacher specialising in Dance and/or Drama. This is a well-established program that provides specialist instruction and assessment in both Dance and Drama, with formal reporting in each subject on an alternating semester basis.
The role calls for a teacher who exhibits contemporary pedagogical approaches aligned with the Quality Teaching Strategy and Teaching for Impact framework. In addition, Parkwood PS implements the Berry Street Education Model school-wide, and teachers are encouraged to embed its strategies into their daily practice.
The Teacher Primary Arts will ideally:
- Be able to train specialist dance groups for performances.
- Model equity and excellence in all aspects of teaching.
- Have the capacity and enthusiasm to promote student engagement in a whole school performing arts program.
- Be committed to creating opportunities for students to showcase their strengths through in school and out of school performances that celebrate success.
- Contribute to raising the specialist area within the school.
- Have experience or understanding in working with students from EALD (English as an Additional Language or Dialect) backgrounds.
