Northam Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a highly motivated, experienced Mathematics Teacher committed to achieving outstanding educational outcomes for all students.

The school stands on the bank of the Avon River and has a proud and rich history of providing a comprehensive curriculum to students in Years 7 to 12 from the Northam and surrounding Wheatbelt districts students. With over 650 students, we are the largest school in the Wheatbelt region of Western Australia.

The Role

Northam SHS is seeking a highly motivated Health and Physical Education Teacher committed to maximising the progress of all students.

The successful applicant will ideally be highly motivated, innovative, and enthusiastic in the promotion of Physical Education and Health within the school and will have a keen interest in the coordination and organisation of school sporting events. The successful applicant will ideally be well organised and committed to developing positive relationships and high expectations for all students. Current knowledge and competency in the Physical and Health Education component of the Western Australian Curriculum and reporting schedule is highly regarded.

The successful applicant should have the ability to work collaboratively within a busy and well-functioning team environment and will have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to our school community. We are seeking highly effective educators who have a deep understanding of and experience with a diverse range of student learning needs and styles, with a capacity to inspire students to achieve to their potential.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Northam Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.

Mobility appointments for permanent metropolitan and south west teachers

Eligible permanent teachers who hold a substantive teaching position in a North or South Education Region school, or a South West Education Region school* may elect to undertake this role as a 3-year mobility appointment, with a right of return to their substantive position. At the cessation of the 3-year mobility appointment, teachers can elect to return to their substantive role, or transfer permanently into this school.
