The School

Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School (KBCHS) is a thriving and inclusive secondary school located in the heart of the Goldfields. As part of a vibrant regional community, our staff enjoy a lifestyle that offers more balance, less time commuting, and greater opportunities to focus on both their professional and personal goals.

With highly subsidised government housing, attractive regional incentives, and the opportunity to accelerate your financial and career aspirations, there has never been a better time to consider a move to regional Western Australia. Combined with Kalgoorlie-Boulder’s strong sense of community, excellent facilities, and unique lifestyle opportunities, KBCHS offers a rewarding environment in which to live and work.

Established in 2006, KBCHS caters for students in Years 7 to 10 and currently has an enrolment of more than 900 students from diverse cultural, social and economic backgrounds. This diversity contributes to a rich and dynamic learning environment where every student is encouraged to achieve success.

The school is supported by a highly committed Student Services team that provides exceptional pastoral care and wellbeing support. Dedicated Year Coordinators and Student Support staff work closely with students and families to ensure every young person is known, valued and supported.

Our teaching staff are passionate, collaborative and committed to delivering engaging, high-quality learning experiences. Through a broad curriculum and a range of specialist programs, KBCHS provides opportunities for students with diverse interests, abilities and aspirations to thrive.

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated HPE Teachers to join our team and contribute to our culture of high expectations, strong relationships and student success.

The Role

Join an enthusiastic and highly collaborative HPE team at KBCHS, where you will have the opportunity to teach to your strengths and passions. Our diverse HPE programs include Outdoor Education, Sport Science, and specialist Sport Development classes in AFL, Basketball, Netball and Soccer, providing staff with the opportunity to deliver engaging and meaningful learning experiences across a range of contexts.

This is an excellent opportunity to further develop your professional practice, contribute to a strong sporting culture, and make a genuine difference in the lives of young people within a supportive and connected school community.

Beyond the classroom, staff have opportunities to lead camps, coordinate sporting programs and attend major events such as Country Week District High Schools. In 2025, KBCHS had its largest-ever representation at Country Week DHS and achieved outstanding success, winning A-Grade championships in Futsal, Volleyball, Hockey and Netball. Working at KBCHS provides valuable experience in event management, team leadership and the delivery of high-quality extra-curricular opportunities for students.

Suitable applicants will ideally have the professional knowledge, skills and experience required to deliver an engaging, contemporary and relevant secondary HPE curriculum. You will be committed to building positive and productive relationships with students, while working collaboratively with colleagues to improve student engagement, achievement and wellbeing outcomes.

The ability to contribute to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices, including the effective integration of digital technologies, will be highly regarded. Suitable applicants should be able to work collaboratively to plan, deliver and evaluate high-quality teaching and learning programs that cater for a diverse range of student needs and abilities.

We are seeking reflective practitioners who are committed to creating and maintaining safe, inclusive and supportive learning environments. Suitable applicants will ideally have strong data literacy skills and the ability to use student achievement and engagement data to inform teaching practice, differentiate instruction and maximise learning outcomes for all students.

At KBCHS, you will join a school that values teamwork, innovation and continuous improvement, while enjoying the unique lifestyle and opportunities that come with living and working in the Goldfields region.
