As an Independent Public School, we enhance the needs and aspirations of our students, their families and the local community. We focus on student engagement and wellbeing as well as explicit targeted instruction, with teachers and support staff selected to provide high care and high expectations for student success.
The Role
The Aboriginal and Islander Education Officer (AIEO) is a support role that assists teachers in delivering planned education programs and encouraging a supportive and inclusive learning environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
The AIEO acts as a liaison between the community and school to develop an educational program relevant to both educational and cultural needs. They also provide mentoring and pastoral care to encourage participation and achievement at school and provide support and advice to schools and teachers on the management program of students at risk. They also design and implement behaviour management plans, maintain records, and provide information to parents.
