This is a 12 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency

Wyalkatchem District High School, in the Central Wheatbelt, caters for kindergarten students through to Year 10. We focus on maximising individual potential, academic and social so that students can later excel in the workplace and become active, confident, and valued participants in society.

We are a small school where relationships are developed to encourage engagement. Staff are committed to improved student outcomes. The Role

The successful applicant should have a strong teaching background in either upper primary or secondary with experience in a variety of roles. The successful applicant will provide some Duties Other Than Teaching (DOTT) in the primary school and must be willing to teach Health And Physical Education (HPE) across the school. We are seeking a teacher with demonstrated use of a range of pedagogies and a flexible and adaptive approach in applying the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching.

The successful applicant will ideally possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos, and priorities across the school community. You will work collaboratively with your colleagues and build positive relationships with your students. As a teacher within our school your expertise and endearing personal attributes will contribute to establishing and maintaining a positive classroom learning environment.

This role will suit someone who is relationship-focused, highly motivated, and passionate about creating exciting, culturally responsive learning experiences to ignite a desire to learn in students.

The successful applicant will ideally establish strong positive and productive relationships with students, peers and the wider community and enjoy the small-town community lifestyle.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at Wyalkatchem District High School in 2025 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $3 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
