Who We Are:

The Centre's catchment comprises the area geographically north from Rockhampton, west to the NT border and includes island communities off the Queensland coastline. Young people incarcerated by the court system are from ten to eighteen years.

Cleveland Education Centre is a service provider within the Detention Centre therefore all staff are required to comply with a range of safety and security protocols.

Cleveland Education Centre delivers education programs within the Detention Centre for 48 weeks of the year. Leave may fall outside school hours - this is negotiable.

About the Role:

Cleveland Education and Training Centre have 2 Permanent Part time Teacher Aides jobs available. Both 70 hours a fortnight negotiable.

Job 1:

Teacher Aide - Hopsitality

Do you love cooking? Are you happiest in the kitchen? Do you enjoy sharing your skills and helping young people learn practical cooking skills they can use for life - and maybe even a future career?

Working alongside classroom teachers, you will assist students in learning hospitality and cooking skills in a supportive, hands-on environment.

This role is programmed in Hospitality classes Monday to Friday, although it may include some Teacher Aide Literacy and Numeracy classroom activities.

We are looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Hospitality Teacher Aide to support our Hospitality program and help students build confidence and practical skills in the kitchen.

Duties include:

  • Supporting classroom teachers during hospitality classes
  • Assisting students with cooking and food preparation
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe kitchen
  • Sanitising benches, equipment and kitchen areas daily
  • Assisting with ordering food and kitchen supplies
  • Encouraging and supporting students to build confidence and practical life skills

Job 2:

Teacher Aide - Generic

Do you enjoy working with young people and cheering them on as they learn new things? Are you the kind of person who loves helping students build confidence in their Literacy and Numeracy skills?

You will work alongside classroom teachers to support students and help create a positive learning environment. Each day will be different, giving you the opportunity to work across a range of subject areas.

We're looking for a friendly and enthusiastic Teacher Aide who enjoys variety, teamwork, and making a positive difference in students' learning every day.

If you like supporting teachers, encouraging students, and being part of a busy school environment, this could be the role for you!

Duties include:

  • Supporting classroom teachers in Literacy, Numeracy, The Arts, and HPE
  • Assisting students with learning activities and skill development
  • Encouraging students to engage in their learning and build confidence
  • Preparing classroom resources including photocopying and laminating
  • Assisting with general classroom organisation and support
