St Joseph's Catholic College, East Gosford is currently seeking an energetic and passionate Aboriginal Education Teacher. The successful candidate will be suitably qualified and enjoy working in a dynamic and cohesive team.

This is for a temporary part-time role (40 hours per fortnight) to start on 24 August 2026 and will be for the whole of 2026 school year. During this engagement, the successful candidate will be required to work on Wednesdays and Fridays with an additional day negotiable.

• Understanding of and sensitivity to the learning needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
• Highly effective, skilled classroom practitioner committed to the ethos of the Catholic School
• Capacity to contribute to the school’s Continuous Improvement Cycle and is committed to student achievement
• Supports the learning and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students
• Promotes the implementation of culturally responsive pedagogies
• Builds relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and community
• Assists in the implementation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives into teaching and learning and as part of the school culture
• Proven ability to apply sound pedagogical practices to create a motivating and engaging learning environment that caters to the needs of all learners
• Skilled in analysing and reflecting on student learning data to ensure learning growth for all students;
• Highly effective in managing and facilitating safe and supportive learning environments with an understanding of positive student welfare practices
• Willingness to contribute to the broader extracurricular aspects of school life as an active member of the school community
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a dynamic professional learning community.
• Proficient in the use of technology to enhance student learning
• Available to work Wednesday and Friday - with additional day negoitable
• Applicants who are not currently working in a Broken Bay systemic school must have a 4 year training qualification or be enrolled to undertake further study that will provide them with a four year trained qualification to be eligible to apply for any teaching position in the Diocese.
• It is a genuine occupational requirement that the position be filled by a person of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent

The school was established in its present form in 1967 at East Gosford on the Central Coast. It was founded by the Sisters of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart to provide Catholic secondary schooling for girls in the City of Gosford.
