Commencing term 1 2027 we are seeking a passionate and experienced Social Science Teacher – Legal Studies to join a supportive, collegial department that works closely with College staff to support student learning in Stage 6 Legal Studies and Stage 5 Commerce.

The role
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Social Science Teacher – Legal Studies to join a supportive, collegial department that works closely with College staff to support student learning. The successful applicant will have strong curriculum knowledge across a range of Social Science subjects and the ability to teach in an engaging, innovative way. The role will focus on Stage 6 Legal Studies and Stage 5 Commerce, with a willingness to teach Stage 4/5 Mandatory Geography.
The Social Science Department offers a broad range of courses, including Business Studies, Economics, Geography, Legal Studies and Society and Culture at Stage 6. Stage 5 offerings include Mandatory Geography, Elective Geography, Commerce and Cambridge Sociology.
Broad objective
The teacher supports the Principal in maintaining the school as a community of learning and innovation where every girl is known and valued, and where students engage in enriching learning experiences that challenge and empower them to pursue and attain their personal best.
Working as a member of a department, the teacher is responsible for the academic development and pastoral care of students in their classes and/or Pastoral Care Group. As such, they are a role model personally and professionally.
Qualifications, skills and experience
- Previous experience teaching Legal Studies.
- A strong work ethic, displaying determination, self-motivation and curiosity.
- Flexibility with a high degree of motivation for the role.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team.
- Proven ability to meet internal and external deadlines e.g., NESA deadlines.
- Proven ability to prioritise competing interests and to work in the best interests of the College.
- Strong ICT competencies.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships.
- Commitment to professional learning and continuous improvement.
- Actively supportive of the Christian mission and values of the College.
