About the Role
This ongoing full time role is responsible for delivering engaging, curriculum-aligned instruction in Mathematics, Science and Physics to secondary school students in accordance with the Victorian Curriculum and relevant educational standards. This role seeks to foster analytical thinking, scientific curiosity, and a deep conceptual understanding of the world through a progressive, student-centred approach to teaching and learning. The teacher will prioritise inquiry, voice, and agency in the classroom, creating inclusive, responsive and dynamic learning environments that empower all students to thrive.
In addition to academic instruction, the teacher will support the social and emotional development of students, collaborate meaningfully with colleagues and families, and actively contribute to the broader school community to help cultivate a positive, future-focused educational culture.
About You
We are seeking a passionate and experienced educator who is committed to progressive education, student-centred learning and relationship-driven practice. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a purpose-led, inclusive environment and is dedicated to enabling young people to flourish intellectually, socially and emotionally.
The successful candidate will have:
- Completion of an accredited Initial Teacher Education (ITE) program, such as:
- A four-year undergraduate teaching degree (e.g. Bachelor of Education – Secondary) with teaching methods in Mathematics, Science and/or Physics; or
- A two-year postgraduate teaching qualification, following a relevant undergraduate degree (e.g. Bachelor of Science or related field + Master of Teaching – Secondary).
- Current registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
- Strong knowledge of the Victorian Curriculum in Mathematics, Science and Physics, with the capacity to design and deliver curriculum-aligned, purposeful and engaging learning experiences.
- Demonstrated ability to implement progressive, student-led pedagogies, including inquiry-based learning, project-based learning and approaches that centre student voice, choice and agency.
- Proven ability to create inclusive and responsive learning environments that support the diverse academic, cultural and social-emotional needs of students.
- A deep understanding of adolescent development and contemporary educational practice, with a commitment to building authentic relationships and fostering a strong sense of belonging.
- A demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice, underpinned by values of educational equity, creativity and continuous growth.
