About the Role
We are seeking an Accounts Receivable Officer to join our Finance Team in a part-time ongoing position (22.8 hours per week | 3 days). This vital role is responsible for the school’s billing and debtor functions with accuracy, professionalism, and empathy, ensuring positive relationships with families and the broader school community. The successful candidate will be responsible for invoicing, payment allocation, reconciliations, and respectful debt management, contributing to the smooth operation of the school’s financial systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, payments, and debtor management.
- Prepare and issue fee statements and billing schedules in line with school policies.
- Monitor outstanding accounts and manage follow-up communications with sensitivity and discretion.
- Perform daily bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records.
- Liaise with families and internal stakeholders to resolve queries and establish payment plans.
- Prepare regular reports to support financial planning and leadership decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with policies, privacy obligations, and relevant financial regulations.
About You
You are an experienced and detail-oriented finance professional who values accuracy, communication, and community connection. You’ll bring:
- Previous experience in a school / education environment in a similar role is strongly preferred.
- Strong experience in accounts receivable, billing, reconciliations, and debtor management.
- Proficiency with MYOB and/or school finance systems (e.g. Xplor, TASS, Synergetic, Compass).
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
- The ability to handle sensitive fee-related discussions with professionalism and care.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- A commitment to confidentiality, ethical practice, and the values of the school.
A qualification in Accounting or Bookkeeping (minimum Certificate IV) and experience in an education or fee-paying environment are highly regarded.
