About our school

St Joseph's College Coomera is a Brisbane Catholic Education master planned co-educational College that opened in January 2019. Our first Seniors graduated in 2024. The College is located in Coomera on the Northern Gold Coast, 40 minutes south of the Brisbane CBD.

About the opportunity

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Providing a wide range of support to the classroom teacher or teacher librarian to effectively manage their availability, schedules and appointments.
    • Providing support to the classroom teacher or teacher librarian, supervising small groups and individual students on specific learning activities.
    • Assisting the teacher librarian in preparing, implementing and supervising learning programs.
    • Collaborating with classroom teachers, students and families to support student learning outcomes, particularly for students with diverse learning needs.
    • Collaborating with school staff including teacher librarian, classroom teachers, learning support, leadership and IT to source and prepare resources and support joint activities.
  • Using various software applications and maintaining accurate records
    • Maintaining and editing the library catalogue (physical and digital), including cataloguing new resources, processing donations, and updating existing records.
  • Responding to enquiries and supporting customer service delivery
    • Coordinating parent volunteers and communicating with teachers and parents regarding borrowing requirements and overdue items.
  • Assisting in the development, maintenance and operation of systems and databases
    • Maintaining library systems, including stock control processes such as weeding, tracking and updating collection records.
  • Maintaining stock and issue expendable stores
    • Providing administrative support for circulation systems, including issuing and returning resources, shelving, book repairs and covering.
  • General administrative and operational support (This sits across multiple existing headings but best grouped practically)
    • Creating and maintaining library displays aligned to current topics and themes.
    • Assisting with library events such as Book Week and book fairs.
    • Maintaining a clean and organised library environment.
    • Assisting with photography

About you

To be successful in this position you will bring relevant contemporary skills and experience including:

  • Strong organisational skills to manage schedules and appointments for teachers or teacher librarians
  • Proficiency in software applications for record-keeping, document drafting, and handling sensitive information
  • Effective communication skills to respond to inquiries and resolve issues promptly
  • Experience helping to develop, maintain, and improve systems and databases
  • Knowledge of filing and records management systems, including registers and databases
  • For this position you are not required to be Catholic.

Eligibility and Safeguarding requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment
  • Hold a Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card prior to commencement.
