The Role
As the Program Coordinator – Community Leader, you will work collaboratively with the Principal and members of the Senior Leadership team to provide educational leadership within the school and the wider community. You will develop and promote the school’s vision for academic and artistic excellence, encouraging school staff, volunteers, and community members to share ownership of the school’s goals and creative direction.
The successful applicant will ideally be able to build positive relationships between students, staff, parents, and the local community as they lead a Learning Community which is proactive, innovative, and supportive ensuring successful learning achievement outcomes for a community of students and teachers.
The successful applicant should ideally display a sound understanding of the multi-tiered systems of support that includes knowledge of effective intervention strategies across the academic, engagement and wellbeing domains. They will be able to apply their professional knowledge and understanding of these effective strategies to support whole-child teaching, learning and well-being within the school community.
As an instructional leader, they will also possess the ability to provide direction and purpose to staff, to build and sustain team cohesion and capacity through a focus on quality teaching and promote an environment of positive quality academic learning experiences for all students. The successful applicant should be able to collaborate effectively with others to sustain a professional strengths-based culture whereby staff feel supported to share effective teaching and learning practices.
The Program Coordinator – Learning Community role also includes leadership of a curriculum domain. In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the school’s Technologies programs, be responsible for the operations of the Design Technologies, Digital Technologies, STEM, and Home Economics facilities, and line manage specialist staff to ensure the effective coordination, delivery, and promotion of high-quality Technologies education and community engagement initiatives.

Teachers and school administrators employed at Northam Senior High School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $2 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
