This is a fixed term, full-time position commencing January 2026 up until the end of June 2026 with possible extension.

The Kimberley Schools Project (the Project) is a collaborative partnership between the Department of Education, Catholic Education Western Australia, the Association of Independent Schools Western Australia and the Department of Regional Development and Primary Industries. The Project is designed to accelerate and intensify existing strategies to address low education outcomes in the Kimberley and underpins broader economic and social development in the region.

The Role

As the Principal - Kimberley Schools Project you will provide educational leadership to schools and regional networks in the development and implementation of strategies and professional support materials which are informed by school, system data evidence and result in improved student achievement. You will plan, implement and evaluate initiatives and strategies aligned to the four Project components with a particular focus on targeted teaching of literacy and numeracy.

If successful, you will evaluate the quality and effectiveness of regional programs and services, identify trends and develop appropriate strategies to support improvement. You will be required to collect, analyse and interpret quality data and contextual information as part of a highly responsive and targeted approach to improving student outcomes.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.
  • hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia.
  • obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
  • obtain or hold a current C class license.
  • obtain or hold an accredited 4WD qualification.
  • undertake extended overnight travel throughout the Region, including travel to remote school sites.
