Pickering Brook Primary School (PS) is a unique school, nestled in the Perth hills, with community at its heart. Our environment is like no other Perth school, we don’t have to create nature play, because we live amongst nature! Students enjoy two high-quality natural areas that encourage exploration and imagination, alongside built playgrounds and excellent sporting facilities.
We also offer specialist programs in Music, Visual Arts, Italian Language and Instrumental Music, led by experienced and passionate teachers. We recognise that reading is the key to future success and have a reading reward program that nurtures and celebrates our students love of reading.
Our school puts student needs' first; with evidence-based teaching practices, purposeful play, and staff who really know their students; how they learn; and what they need to learn next. Our multi-grade approach sees students learn from each other, lead each other, and have opportunities to develop more-sophisticated social skills than students in same-age settings.

The Role
As our Library Officer, you would supervise the day-to-day operations of the library and provision of reference, information and associated services to teaching staff and students. You would administer the library system to ensure library records are up-to-date and library resources are maintained and processed so they are accessible and available to students and staff at all times. Operating the library system will be part of your daily tasks, ensuring that records are up-to-date, new resources are added, and deleted or archived items are appropriately documented with accurate barcoding. Timely and effective processing of loans and returns is crucial to ensure accessibility for students and staff.
The successful applicant will ideally have good interpersonal skills, the ability to work unsupervised and the ability to use a range of computer software packages. This includes the Oliver Library database system, however, this is not essential as training is available. We are seeking a Library Officer who works well with staff and students, helping to nurture our students’ love of reading.
