In 2022, Good Samaritan Catholic College Hinchinbrook began operating Sydney Catholic Schools first secondary Specialist Support Class, for students with moderate intellectual disabilities. Students enrolled in these classes benefit from highly skilled Special Education teachers, contemporary technology and quality resources whilst being active and valued members of our school community. The curriculum is personalised, integrated and collaborative and builds the capabilities of all students. The school is committed to collaboration and conversations that focus on student and staff growth.

About You

As part of the Learning Support Team in the Specialist Support Class, you will assist the classroom teacher in providing a quality Catholic education focused on maximising student outcomes, through a holistic, student centred curriculum. You must be able to demonstrate:

  • an understanding of the needs of the diverse needs of students who require individual and classroom support
  • ability to work collaboratively with teachers as a team member
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to be organised, supportive and resourceful
  • a willingness to support the positive religious and cultural Catholic school environment for students.
  • a Certificate III or IV in Educational Support from TAFE NSW or equivalent post-secondary qualification
  • experience assisting students in a classroom setting with a variety of disabilities including moderate cognitive disability, Autism Spectrum Disorder and other complex needs is desirable.
