We are seeking an experienced and passionate Languages Teacher (Mandarin Chinese) to join our dedicated team for a 12-month maternity leave position, commencing in Term 4, 2026. The successful applicant will be an enthusiastic educator who fosters academic excellence, demonstrates a passion for teaching and learning, and is committed to supporting students in achieving their full potential.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Chinese across Kindergarten to Yr 8 levels.
The successful candidate will:
- Deliver engaging and high-quality teaching and learning experiences in Chinese.
- Demonstrate strong subject knowledge and the ability to teach Chinese effectively across a range of year levels.
- Plan, prepare, assess, and report on student learning in accordance with NESA requirements.
- Apply effective classroom management strategies to foster a positive and productive learning environment.
- Use data-informed practices to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support faculty initiatives and whole-school programs.
- Build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Model a strong commitment to the Christian ethos and Coptic Orthodox values of the College.
- Be able to travel between both Primary & Secondary campuses (5 min drive).
Key Selection Criteria
Applicants should address the following criteria in their written response (maximum two pages):
- Proven experience teaching Mandarin Chinese, with demonstrated student success.
- Comprehensive knowledge of current NESA syllabuses, curriculum design, and assessment practices relevant to Languages.
- Confidence in understanding and applying the NESA ACE Manual and its requirements, where applicable.
- Capacity to use data-informed practices to enhance student learning outcomes.
- Demonstrated effective classroom management and the ability to create a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
- Commitment to professional learning, reflective teaching practice, and collaboration with colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Capacity to uphold and promote the Christian ethos and Coptic Orthodox values of the College in all aspects of school life.
Qualifications
- A recognised teaching qualification and current NESA accreditation.
- Minimum Proficient Teacher NESA accreditation.
- Experience teaching Mandarin Chinese within a school setting.
- Current and valid NSW Working with Children Check (WWCC).
