The Role

Do you enjoy working with people, have a flair for organisation, and take pride in creating smooth, efficient systems? We’re looking for a Human Resource Officer who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys building strong professional relationships, and loves keeping things running seamlessly behind the scenes.

In this dynamic and highly valued role, you’ll be at the heart of our daily operations, providing expert advice and hands-on support across a range of Human Resource functions. The key focus of the role is the coordination of daily teacher and support staff relief, along with associated leave management — you’ll be the go-to person ensuring every class is covered and the school runs effortlessly. A solid understanding of staff timetabling, cost efficient rostering, and leave entitlements will be highly advantageous.

You’ll also oversee HR systems, including payroll processing, validation and mandatory reporting requirements, Working with Children and Criminal Screening checks, pre-employment documentation, and appointment processes for casual staff. In addition, you’ll work closely with the Associate Principal and Manager Corporate Services to support recruitment activities when required. As such, previous experience in the Department’s HRMIS would be advantageous.

The successful applicant will ideally coordinate staff relief outside regular hours, with an availability allowance provided and an earlier start and finish time. It is highly desriable that the successful applicant can commence work no later than 7:15am.

Successful applicants should display:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
  • Outstanding organisational skills and an exceptional eye for detail
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with professionalism
  • A proactive mindset and confidence in managing competing priorities
