High Achieving Teachers Program Fixed Term Teacher Pool

The Department of Education is establishing an appointment pool of eligible candidates to be placed in teaching vacancies as part of the 2026 Edith Cowan University (ECU) High Achieving Teachers (HAT@ECU) Program.

You are only eligible for this appointment pool if you have received and accepted an email ‘Offer of Placement’ to participate in the HAT@ECU Program 2026 from Edith Cowan University.

The HAT@ECU Program is an employment-based pathway into teaching which allows participants to complete a Master of Teaching (Early Childhood, Primary or Secondary) while placed in a Western Australian public school for 2 years, for observation, professional experience and part-time (paid) teaching. To be eligible for inclusion in the 2026 HAT@ECU Program you must have already completed at least a Bachelor’s degree (or be on track to successfully do so by December 2025) in a discipline other than teaching and meet any other ECU requirements for enrolment in the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood, Primary or Secondary) as part of the HAT@ECU Program. For further information regarding the HAT@ECU Program including how to apply, please visit ECU’s website at https://www.ecu.edu.au/degrees/high-achieving-teachers-program.

This pool will be used to fill 18 month fixed-term, part-time vacancies commencing in Term 3, 2026, at Western Australian public schools eligible to participate in the 2026 HAT@ECU Program. Successful candidates will be placed in schools for observation and professional experience in Term 1 and 2, 2026, before commencing part-time employment in Term 3, 2026. A list of schools eligible to participate in the 2026 Program is attached above.

Applications will close on 30 January 2026.

Appointments from the pool can be made commencing from Term 3, 2026. Only applicants placed in the pool will be considered for vacancies. Selection from the pool will be based on a number of factors, including the applicant’s eligibility to teach the subject required. Offers of employment will be conditional upon the applicant being granted Limited Registration from the Teacher Registration Board of WA. Commencement of and ongoing employment throughout the 18-month appointment will be conditional upon the applicant’s ongoing participation and satisfactory progress in the HAT@ECU Program.
