Position Information
Arthur Phillip High School is situated in the progressive and rapidly expanding CBD city of Parramatta, bringing an exciting and dynamic energy to the school. The school is culturally diverse and has a student population of 1650 with 91% having English as an additional language or dialect (representing over 40 different cultures). The school boasts facilities that incorporate future-focused, flexible teaching spaces with adaptable furniture and room configurations. The learning spaces are technology-rich to serve multiple learning contexts from large class groups to small clusters, providing better opportunities for innovation, collaboration, personalised and individualised learning. Arthur Phillip High School incorporates science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics (STEAM) areas, fitness labs for physical education classes, and wet and dry studios for music instruction and practice. Within this environment the school is committed to continually improving classroom practice through an unrelenting focus on building an understanding of how to utilise the open, innovative learning spaces.
Selection Criteria
Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Proven expereince and leadership of a Learning and Support Faculty to deliver high-quality teaching and support to students with additional learning needs.
- Proven ability to lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of school wide differentiation practices for students with additional needs.
- Proven ability to collect and analyse data, and build the capacity of staff to use data to improve practice and cater for the diverse needs of students to improve learning and engagement.
- Demonstrated capacity to collaboratively develop and implement programs connected with the strategic directions of the school, and work with executive teams and the broader school community, in the progress and evaluation of these directions.
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
