Primary Teacher

We’re looking for an enthusiastic and experienced primary school teacher with experience managing student wellbeing and leading a staff team. This position will commence in Term 1 2027.

Specific Responsibilities
Student conduct
- Work with Junior School Stage/Grade Leaders to provide practical advice to teachers on how they manage lower-level student behaviour issues.
- Directly manage significant and/or complex student conduct issues.
- Provide clear and timely feedback to class teachers on how student conduct issues have been managed.
- Assist Stage/Grade Leaders and class teachers to write behaviour plans and other documents that are needed to effectively manage student conduct.
- When needed, either directly contact parents in relation to significant student conduct issues or provide support and advice to teachers who will do so.
- Keep timely, accurate records of student conduct issues.
- Effectively implement current Junior School strategies that promote appropriate student conduct by working with Stage/Grade leaders and, if necessary, with individual classroom teachers.
Student Wellbeing
- Provide teachers with practical, timely advice and support for students with significant welfare needs.
- Act as the designated Junior School Child Safety Officer – case managing Child Safe incidents as required.
- Liaise with school counsellors to manage substantial student wellbeing needs and issues that are too time consuming, complex or sensitive for Stage/Grade Leaders to manage.
- Implement proactive student wellbeing strategies e.g. social skills groups.
- Lead fortnightly students of concern meetings with staff directly involved in managing these student cases.
- Work with Stage/Grade Leaders to organise annual school camps.
Other Work
- Advise and support the Stage/Grade leaders who are responsible for:
- working with their respective teams to create lesson materials for student wellbeing lessons.
- ensuring that students wear their uniform correctly.
- Suggest improvements to existing Junior School wellbeing related policies and procedures.
- Manage requests from parents seeking exemptions to uniform requirements.

- Be well organised, proactive and perceptive.
- Take practical, realistic steps to address student behaviour and wellbeing issues when they arise.
- Act quickly and decisively when urgent student wellbeing matters arise.
- Be strong verbal and written communicators.
- Be committed to:
- Keeping timely and accurate written records of student wellbeing and conduct matters.
- Ensuring that staff record student wellbeing and conduct matters.
- Work with Junior School staff to ensure that all student wellbeing related policies and procedures e.g. discipline, anti-bullying are carefully followed.
The Contract
All teachers at RHAC are employed under the Independent Schools (Teachers) Cooperative Multi Enterprise Agreement 2025 (CMEA). The CMEA outlines teacher’s salaries and their employment rights and responsibilities. The successful candidate will be paid a Level 2 Leadership allowance, in addition to a teacher’s base salary, under the applicable enterprise agreement. The appointee will have a teaching allocation (0.2 - 0.4) in addition to the student wellbeing leadership work and will start in the role at the beginning of the 2027 school year.
Child Safety
The College actively promotes the safety and wellbeing of all students and requires all prospective staff to be suitable and committed to protecting students from harm in the school environment. The College implements the Child Safe Standards developed by the Office of the Children’s Guardian. All College staff receive annual training in Child Protection.
