Experienced and qualified teachers are invited to apply for this permanent position, including a 3-year appointment as Head of Mathematics.

Suitably experienced, qualified future focused teachers are invited to apply for this permanent teaching position with the leadership appointment as Head of Mathematics for a 3-year period, commencing Term 1 2027.

The opportunity

The Head of Department (Mathematics)is a key middle leadership position responsible for leading, developing and promoting high-quality Mathematics programs across Years 7-12, and for fostering authentic and engaging learning experiences across the department.

Reporting to and working closely with the Head of Learning and Teaching, this role provides effective middle leadership of the Mathematics Department, aligning departmental practice with the College’s Strategic Plan and educational priorities. The Head of Mathematics leads and supports a team of teachers, building capacity through collaboration, professional growth, and clear expectations for teaching, assessment and student outcomes.

The role is central to driving an academic improvement agenda within the department, using data-informed practices to enhance student learning and achievement. The Head of Mathematics contributes to a shared educational vision, promoting a culture of reflective practice, continuous improvement, and a holistic approach to education that supports both academic excellence and student wellbeing.

About you

The successful candidate is an experienced teacher with demonstrated leadership capacity who will:

  • Lead the development of innovative teaching and learning with comprehensive pedagogical skills, curriculum knowledge and assessment requirements.
  • Lead and inspire the Mathematics staff to contribute to a rich and diverse curriculum.
  • Demonstrate excellence in current and emerging educational developments in Mathematics, incorporating technology to enhance engagement in the learning environment.
  • Maintain the development of authentic learning experiences that enrich the learning of Mathematics.
  • Foster a collaborative and positive organisational culture able to promote Mathematics and the College to the broader community.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills in a range of formal and informal settings.
  • Support and promote the values of the College.
  • Participate in pastoral and co-curricular programs, including student well-being initiatives, school camps and excursions.
  • Commit to the safeguarding and promoting of student welfare

Qualifications

  • Teaching qualification recognised by the Teacher Quality Institute
  • Maintain registration as a teacher with the Teacher Quality Institute, including WWVP
  • Current First Aid Certificate
