Job Description

We are seeking an outstanding and passionate Head Coach to lead 1st XVIII Football Team. Playing a key role in the continued growth of our highly respected Football Program, you will be responsible for leading and managing the team to achieve on-field success while fostering a positive, inclusive, and performance-driven team culture. This role involves planning and delivering high-quality training sessions, implementing game strategies, mentoring coaches, and supporting player development. Working in close partnership with the Head of Coaching (Football), you will also play a pivotal role in shaping the vision and direction of Scotch’s entire football program, identifying emerging talent, mentoring coaches within our squad and ensuring a high-performance environment that balances athletic excellence with student wellbeing and academic outcomes.
The successful applicant will have:
- Values of excellence, respect, responsibility and reverence
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents and colleagues
- AFL coaching accreditation (minimum Level 1, or willingness to obtain)
- Demonstrated coaching experience at an elite level, in club, school, or representative environment
- Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to inspire and motivate players of varying skill levels
- Deep understanding of APS competition, game strategies, and player development principles
- Familiarity with modern game analysis tools and techniques
- Demonstrated capacity to maintain confidentiality
- Relevant qualifications and/or training in child safety and wellbeing
- Current Working with Children Check (Employee) or VIT
