About this job

Position Information

Moree East Public School is a Connected Communities primary school located in north west New South Wales and stands proudly on Gomeroi Country. The school has a current enrolment of 230 students of which 87% identify as Aboriginal. Due to the transient nature of our school community, numbers fluctuate throughout the school year. The school's FOEI is 206 (2025) and ICSEA 689 (2025), identifying the school as a low socio-economic rural and remote school demographic.

Moree East Public School has a strong ethos of inclusion and commitment to education of the whole child through the provision of quality education and welfare practices. A culture of teamwork is valued, with community involvement encouraged in all aspects of school life.

Moree East Public School has modern facilities, is well resourced and is focused on utilising the broader learning environment to maximise student engagement. 2025 initiatives included – MultiLit Closing the Gap, Gomeroi Culture and Gamilaraay Language, Explicit Teaching, STEM education, SMART Spelling, Resilience Project and SWITCH for Schools wellbeing initiatives.

The Connected Communities strategy positions Moree East Public School as a community hub. It broadens the influence of the community and school leadership to play a role in the delivery of key services and in supporting children throughout their schooling.

The Schools as Community Centres (SaCC) initiative supports families with their children from birth to 8 years of age through proactive early intervention programs and cross agency partnerships. Under the strategy a number of initiatives operate at Moree East Public School. These include supported playgroups, transition to school, daily breakfast club and specialist service provision.

Connected Communities is a strategy to drive improved educational outcomes for Aboriginal children and young people. The strategy positions schools as community hubs that broaden the influence of the community and school leadership in the delivery of key services that support children and young people from birth through school into further training, study and employment. The Executive Principal will work in partnership with the local Aboriginal Education Consultative Group and the local community to achieve the key accountabilities of the role.

This appointment is for an initial period of three years, with the possibility of extension for the duration of the Connected Community strategy to the end of 2034.
