Early Years Teaching Assistant

Wakefield & Surrounding Areas Flexible Primary School Placements | Immediate Start

We are looking for an enthusiastic Early Years Teaching Assistant with proven experience supporting children in Nursery or Reception to join our team and work across a range of primary schools in Wakefield and nearby areas.

About the Role

You will support children aged 3-5 in their early development, helping to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about early childhood education and confident working with young learners in both one‑to‑one and group settings.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting children's learning through play‑based and structured activities
• Assisting with phonics, early maths, communication, and social development
• Providing one‑to‑one support for children with additional needs
• Helping to maintain a positive, inclusive classroom environment
• Working closely with class teachers and other support staff
• Following safeguarding procedures and school policies

Requirements

• Experience supporting children in Early Years (essential)
• Knowledge of the EYFS framework
• A patient, caring, and proactive approach
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
