Role details:
This role provides leadership and direction in the planning and implementation of the State Schools Strategy Division priorities, particularly those in relation to student protection.
The Director - Student protection will be required to:
- Work with regionally based Principal Advisors to ensure the effective provision of services and support to schools.
- Develop and maintain departmental student protection policies, procedures, online resources and training materials.
- Lead and manage teams responsible for student protection and domestic and family violence policy and advice, supporting educational outcomes of students in care, and conducting internal reviews under the Child Protection Act 1999.
- Initiate, maintain and promote effective networks with internal and external stakeholders to ensure coordinated responses to complex educational issues, including supporting students in care and identifying and responding to domestic and family violence risk indicators.
- Represent the department, as required, on departmental and external committees and working groups and prepare major papers, briefings, reports, submissions and departmental correspondence.
- Undertake tasks as requested by Senior Executives related to the portfolio.

- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and present a range of solutions to complex issues.
- Demonstrated ability to provide accurate and timely advice often within stringent timeframes.
- Demonstrated ability to gather information from a range of sources and undertake critical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results within tight timeframes with high levels of accuracy.
