This is a 9 month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 1, 2026 with possible extension and/or permanency

As the largest remote community school in the state, La Grange Remote Community School (LGRCS) caters to the educational needs of all school-aged children in the Bidyadanga community, and classes range from Pre-Kindergarten (children aged 0–3 years old) to Year 12.

In addition to a strong commitment to developing the literacy and numeracy skills of its students, LGRCS offers a diverse range of specialist programs across all year levels including Art, Physical Education and Information and Communication Technology and a focus on cultural learning, particularly the provision of Language classes.

The Role

The successful applicant would provide educational leadership in the school and the community by assisting the Principal to develop and promote the school values, ethos and priorities, and encouraging staff. In collaboration with the other Deputy Principals, the successful applicant will be overseeing Behaviour Management in the Secondary school. LGRCS will be conducting its next Public School Review (PSR) in 2026, experience in the PSR process will be highly desirable.

The Secondary Deputy Principal would provide educational leadership in several focus areas including implementation of the Western Australian Curriculum. They will ideally have a high level of evidence-based curriculum knowledge and expertise in Professional Learning Communities. The successful applicant will ideally provide curriculum support and development of best practice in teaching and classroom management to teachers.

The Secondary Deputy Principal will ideally have skills and knowledge of the Kimberley Schools Project, Trauma Informed Practice and Cultural Responsiveness. Experience in Compass and timetabling knowledge, attendance and engagement portfolio’s, Secondary system’s, vocational education and training (VET) and Workplace Learning (WPL) knowledge would be highly regarded.

Teachers and School Administrators employed at La Grange Remote Community School in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $1 595 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.

The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
