The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and committed educational leader to join our team as Deputy Principal – Secondary. This is a unique opportunity to lead and influence secondary education in a distinctive and innovative setting.

In this role, you will oversee the operation and management of the secondary school, including coordination with the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE) to support a blended learning model. You will establish and refine processes tailored to the secondary context, with a strong focus on attendance, behaviour, and student engagement using a data driven approach. In a leadership capacity that emphasises partnership, the successful applicant will lead careers education and actively engage with the community by organising meaningful work placements and building strong local partnerships that expand career opportunities for students.

A successful leader at Onslow School will be someone who can drive positive change through effective management practices, aligned with our commitment to quality teaching, high expectations, and success for all students. Working within a small, collaborative leadership team you will make meaningful contributions to our Business Plan and demonstrate an application of whole-school approaches.

The successful applicant will demonstrate highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on leading others through effective team formation and performance development processes. Strong organisational skills and leadership capacity are essential.

Eligibility

To work with us, you must:

  • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
  • hold registration with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia
  • obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
  • consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain a current Screening Clearance Number issued by the Department of Education’s Screening Unit before you start.

    4. Demonstrated capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
